Presentation of Starter Packs
On Tuesday 18th June, Connor Diocesan President, Sally, VP F&A Unit, Alberta, Social Policy Contact, Jacqui and A&O Unit Co-ordinator, Wendy had the privilege of visiting a Women’s Aid centre in Coleraine which is operated by Women’s Aid Causeway & Mid Ulster. The Diocesan representatives heard first-hand from Matilda the work of the centre and about the challenges the using the centre women face as well as what their needs are. At the end of the visit, the representatives from Connor Diocese were delighted to hand over 7 the starter kits which in turn will be given to women who are preparing to move into their own homes.
The presentation of these 7 starter kits along with the 14 others and 2 chrome books was made possible by a seed grant of £1000 from All Ireland Mothers’ Union and the proceeds from a very successful 16 Days of Activism prayer breakfast in Mid Connor. It is hoped that these 2 projects will be adopted by the Areas and/or Branches within Connor Diocese over the coming months.
