Call out violence against women and girls event
A very successful and well-attended diocesan event organised by Connor Diocesan Social Policy Contact Jacqui, to mark 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and Abuse was held in Dunsilly Hotel on Saturday 23rd November.
The speakers – Arlene, Women’s Aid ABCLN, Sgt Lena, PSNI and Professor Sarah, The Rowan Centre gave the members a real insight into the work being carried out to help prevent violence and support the survivors of violence. It was a difficult and challenging session but left the members much better informed about the subject and gave us some ideas on how to signpost survivors to the help available to them.
In the absence of our All-Ireland President, MU All Ireland Social Policy Contact (NI) Cathy stepped in to encourage branches in the diocese to take part in the RISE UP campaign.
The morning finished with midday prayers led by the Diocesan President, Sally.
