Christmas Greetings from our DP!
Dear Fellow Members
The photograph above from our recent competition, taken in Ballycastle, should be an inspiration to all of us.
Our theme for 2020 has been Building Hope and Confidence. Hope is expectation and desire. It is trusting that something will be fulfilled.
The Psalmist wrote these words, ‘I will find my rest in God alone. He is the one who gives me hope.’ (Psalm 62 verse 5)
We have been hoping that the coronavirus pandemic will come to an end and recently we have been given new hope in the form of vaccines that have been developed. It is amazing that this has been achieved in such a short timescale. This means a real hope for a return to normality for us all in 2021.
The Magi hoped that by following a star they would discover something great at the end of their journey. They were full of excitement and anticipation as they were led to the manger in Bethlehem.
Whilst I had hoped to be able to see many of you this year in person, in visits to your branches and services, but this has not been possible. However, I was able to embrace technology and send you a video of Autumn Council. I do hope you were able to view it.
We all hope that we will be able to see our loved ones at Christmas, though this may not be possible. Bob and I hoped we would be able to go to Edinburgh but unfortunately, this will not now happen. We will have to wait a bit longer to see the family.
The reassurance the angels brought to the terrified shepherds on that Bethlehem hillside should inspire us again at this time of the year, with their message of ‘good news of great joy for all the people’.
May the precious gift of Christ and the love of God who gave him fill you with hope and joy this Christmas and always.
With my love,
Sally x
