Mid Connor Walk – supporting Mums in May

Mums in May Logo as created by Valerie Cathcart, Christ Church Branch.

At the beginning of 2021, All Ireland President June set herself a challenge to walk 21k in each diocese in 2021 to help raise funds for the All Ireland ‘Mums in May’ fund.  This fund supports new and ongoing MU projects throughout Ireland as well as specific important overseas projects and every third year the fund is replenished through the efforts of members in Ireland.  Every member can help in this fundraising effort and thank you to those members in Connor who have challenged themselves to do ’21 something in 21′ and already raised money.

June’s third and final 7k walk in Connor Diocese is on Wednesday 13th October when she will be joined by Bishop George and Diocesan Chaplain, Archdeacon Stephen. In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, a small group of members from Trustees and the Executive committee will join the Bishop and Archdeacon, along with some members from the two local MU branches of All Saints’ and St Jude’s.  The walk starts at St Jude’s, Muckamore, and follows the Shakey Bridge Riverwalk to the Mill Race Trail en route to the shores of Lough Neagh, along the Six Mile Water path, through the Antrim Castle Gardens and finishing at All Saints’ Church, Antrim.

There will be a short service and time of reflection afterwards at All Saints’ and this can be viewed https://www.churchmedia.tv/camera/all-saints-church-of-ireland from around 2.15 pm onwards.

If you would like to sponsor this ‘intrepid’ group of walkers on Wednesday the 13th, simply log on to  www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MumsinMay21 or use the downloadable sponsorship form below (please return your completed form and any money raised to your Branch Treasurer – cheques made payable to Mothers’ Union Connor Diocese).  Diocesan Treasurer Emma will collate all of the money raised from the branches before forwarding it to the All Ireland Treasurer.
