Christmas Greetings from our DP!

“Do not be afraid; for see – I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11)

Dear Fellow Members

The birth of a baby is a joyous occasion, and the birth of Jesus was no exception. Mary and Joseph must have been overjoyed with Jesus’ birth, but there must also have been great joy in the fields outside Bethlehem. A group of shepherds whose occupation meant that they spent all day and night out in the open keeping an eye on their sheep are unexpectedly entrusted with an amazing message. No sooner had they bedded down for the night, beside their fire when their familiar routine was suddenly interrupted by the appearance of “an angel of the Lord”. Nobody had ever brought them good news before, and to be singled out in this way was beyond belief. The shepherds followed up on what they had heard and “went with haste” to find the baby Jesus. Having found the baby, they couldn’t keep quiet about Jesus and returned “glorifying and praising God”. What an example they set us!

As we enter the season of Advent, we are looking forward with joy to the coming of Christ. This year as we celebrate Christmas we too are filled with joy. Joy that we can once again attend church services, sing Christmas carols and hear once again the message of the angels.

This time last year we were faced with another lockdown. Thanks to the advances in medicine, we are now able to meet with family and friends and enjoy celebrating the coming of the Christ child with those we love.

The good news of Christmas is that God has noticed us: he has come to us in Jesus; he has spoken to us in his Son; he has reached out and touched us.

Wishing you all the joys of Christmas and every blessing for the year ahead.

Sally x
