Spring News from our DP!

Spring Letter 2022

Dear Fellow Members

As I write this, we are recovering from the effects of Storm Dudley, Storm Eunice, and Storm Franklin. I do hope none of you suffered any ill effects. When I saw in the news the devastation that parts of England had sustained, I realised how lucky we are in the north of Ireland, only having to contend with some snow. It made me think of the prophet Elijah and how God spoke to him, not in the earthquake, the wind, or the fire but in a still small voice.

We have had some good news recently with the relaxation in Covid restrictions. I am very pleased to tell you that our Festival Service is planned for 20th March, and we hope that you will make a special effort to attend as we want to make it a real occasion for celebration. Our preacher for the service is Canon Robert Deane, our All-Ireland Chaplain. We also hope to have an in-person Council on Tuesday 26th April, in Ballymoney and it would be great to see as many of you as possible there.

At our last Council meeting, we had speakers from Women’s Aid ABCLN. Following that meeting Ballyclare branch sent a large donation to Women’s Aid, to be used for fuel vouchers. At a time when lots of folk are experiencing fuel poverty, this donation has been most welcome. Thank you very much for that.

As we approach the season of Lent, in our prayer diary we are encouraged to think of the vital roles women play, whether providing comfort to their child, giving support in times of stress and trauma, or taking on positions of leadership. We pray for all women who play a leading part in holding their families together. May the Lord be their guiding light and keep them strong in their task.

With my love,

Sally x
