Craigs, Dunaghy & Killagan Branch Project Work
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown’s the ladies of Craigs, Dunaghy & Killagan Branch have still been working extremely hard to support Mothers’ Union projects in Connor Diocese. Our highly creative members have been getting those knitting needles clicking and produced over 270 items, including hats, blankets, cardigans and angel cribs and gowns. We were absolutely delighted that half of these items went to the Neo-Natal Unit at Antrim Area Hospital and we are incredibly grateful to our Diocesan Chaplain, Archdeacon Stephen McBride for delivering the handknits to the unit. The remaining items will be shared with other Neo-Natal Units in the Diocese of Connor.
The ladies have also supported their own parish by knitting small prayer squares which are packaged with a prayer and given to bereaved families. Over the course of the past year the Curate in Charge, Rev’d Adrian Halligan has distributed the prayer squares to bereaved parishioners in the Grouped Parishes of Craigs, Dunaghy and Killagan. The parishioners have all been very appreciative of this small gift.
As well as knitting the ladies have been using their talents to crochet surgical mask ear protector straps for the hospitals, nursing homes and even a local undertaker!
